Chris looked at his watch. "Minutes," Chris said in reply to the boy. ((Yeah, I'm awesome enough to control the RP. xD)) Chris points at Blair and shouts, "WRONG." Chris then pulled out his guitar and play some riffs before class started. More students wallked in.

Kairi turned around and looked at the two students, the one Adam being a total dork and Blair being tormented by him. Kuriboh continuously poked her, as if she wanted to tell her something.

Kairi however ignored it and drew stick figures on her desk.

The bell rang. ((SORRY, ACE+ESPE, I'M BORED.))
Chris noticed 24 students in the class. A sizeable number. He took role call and memorized names to faces, and then stood in front of the class. After emitting a groan and a sigh, he started:
"Good morning, everybody. Most teachers would force them to use Mr. or Ms. or Mrs. Surname to refer to them. I'm not most teachers, and so you may call me Chris. Or," pointing to Adam, "as this boy likes to call me, Mr. Rad Dude Guy.
"Welcome to Duel Mechanics. This is a class geared for the students having exceptional knowledge in dueling. At this time--" he pulled out 24 copies of the syllabus and handed them out, "--I'd like you to review the standard information on the syllabus. It contains general information necessary to pass this class. Please make sure to follow the rules at all times.
"At this time, if you are finished reading the syllabus, I'd like you to put them away and take out your decks." Not long after, twenty-four decks were pulled out. "I'm sure all of you think you're tough-s**t, but let me tell you something about deck battling: even when you think your deck is unbeatable, there is always a counter. I, myself, am relatively new to this--I just moved here--but hopefully we can learn something from this ordeal.
"As a standard precaution, when you step into my classroom, I expect you to follow all of the rules outlined in the syllabus. That means no gum, no electronics except the utilities given to you by the school, and I expect you to dress decently. You will find that, after observing the rules, I'm actually a pretty chill guy." A few people chuckled at this.
"Now then, are there any questions before we start?"

"Good question. I became a teacher here because I was interested in this school. It's really neat. Plus I get money, so that's an added bonus."

Cleo's eyes snap open as the morning bell rings. She had fallen asleep at her desk, completely missing Ace's message about the night before.
She leans back in her chair and stretches, "At least I don't have any students 'til later." she mutters, straightening her hair and ruffled clothing before rising from the desk. She grabs her duel disk and deck out of one of the drawers simply out of habitual preparedness before walking out the door of her classroom.

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh GX Duel Academy (Advancement Test on Friday) [if ppl still roleplay]

Post by 7 on Sun Jan 24, 2010 4:03 pm

"...So, assuming there are no more questions, let's begin."
Chris turned to his blackboard and pointed out a few diagrams. "These are what is called 'type matching'," Chris noted. "On most card effects, these typings cancel each other out. On some, however, they work incredibly well. Take this card, for example," as Chris pulls out a card and holds it to the class.
"Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End. It can only be summoned by removing from play a Light-type and a Dark-type in the Graveyard. Once successful, however, the Chaos Emperor Dragon can decimate worlds, which is where it derives it power. It is essential to understand combinations and type matchups to determine the best set-up." Yata-Garasu snickered a bit at this remark. Chris put the card back into his pocket.
"But cards like Chaos Emperor Dragon are rare and hard to find. You'd also need many set-up cards to activate their abilities. A favorite set-up card of mine is this," Chris said, as he pulled out another card. "Vorse Raider. Its monstrous attack, coupled with its 4-star nature, are extremely useful in set-up decks. Another one is the Mystical Elf, which I don't own. Its defense is monstrously high, higher than most 4-stars' Attack points, which serves as effective tribute fodder."
Chris pointed to another diagram. "Tributes, another thing to learn about. Tributes are primarily to build up strength to wipe out hordes of monsters. They're also useful in wiping out opponents. Take this here. The card 'Change of Heart' can be used to take a high-level opposing monster and tribute for your own. Per this diagram, the Change of Heart swipes the Dark Magician gets pulled to the user's side, and then the user tributes the Magician for the Summoned Skull, leaving the opponent virtually defenseless.
"But, there are other things to be worried about: Trap cards. Trap cards are the bane of physically-oriented decks, as they can potentially split up entire decks. Furthermore, they're often unpredictable. Take the Mirror Force.
"Now, as the user summons the Summoned Skull"--pointing to another diagram--"he attacks directly. But then Mirror Force activates and destroys the Summoned Skull. Hence, it is important to keep quite a few Tribute fodder in your decks.
"You must also have a good deal of prevention tactics. A good preventer is Kuriboh, whose special ability neutralizes damage. It's very useful during duels, but unfortunately I don't carry a Kuriboh so I can't show you.
"Prediction is also a huge key to defeat duelists, as well as the bane of duelists. Unpredictable dueling is the key to a few of my decks. A good way to throw off people is to set an otherwise useless card, say, Thousand-Eyes Idol without the Restrict in your deck, and then use some sort of counterattack like Last Will to bring out stronger monsters." At this, Chris mentioned, "Alright, well, my throat hurts a bit, so a quick break. Use this time to study what I've told you and conduct short duels. We will continue in, say, five minutes." Yata-Garasu commented, "Hah, that was the most you've spoken in a while." Chris grunted.

Chris replied, "Good question, Lloyd. Field cards can enhance some cards and decrease the powers of other cards. It's really a matter of reading and understanding the effects and consequences." Chris coughed a bit and then decided to pick up his guitar and play a few riffs during the break so he didn't have to talk.

Kairi got up from the dork who knocked her in the ground.. she decided she would talk to Mr. Tamaya about appropriate action towards the student.

She raised her hand in the shallow air, "MR. TAMAYA, WHAT SUBJECT IS THIS CLASS? CUZ WE'RE NOT REALLY DOING ANYTHING."
